How I use one Gmail address for multiple Soundcloud accounts

Do you know the Gmail "+" trick to use one email for multiple accounts on one service?

Here's a little trick I use that works for any service.

I talked about this on the podcast episode I did with artist Mortimur K.

In this case, let's say I used up all the uploads I have for my free Soundcloud account. With this trick, I can open a new free account and use the same Gmail address.

I don't want to create another Gmail account to sign up again.

Using my one Gmail address for multiple accounts on the same service

I don't remember when I learned this but you can alter the name on a Gmail address. Like, let's say mine is "tom@gmail.com". To be clear that is not my email. I wish it was, but this is just a short example.

Start with the original Gmail address

Add a "+" after the email name

Where it says "tom" on the address I can put a "+" after that.

Add a "+" after the email name

After that "+" I can write something to remember what account it is. For example, I could add soundcloud1. So it would be "tom+soundcloud1@gmail".

Gmail ignores everything after the "+" until it gets to the "@" symbol.

So I could create as many accounts like this as I want.

If I use up that free Soundcloud account for that email I can do it again with something like "tom+soundcloud2@gmail".

They all go to my original Gmail account

All of these emails I use will go to my one Gmail account!

What's great is the messages I get will be labeled as the email address with the pluses. So if people send me messages I know what account it came from!

When I use these additions to the email address the service sees it as a different email because it doesn't match the one in their database.

I can use this trick anywhere

I can do this with all kinds of things, Twitter accounts, free Canva accounts and I don't have to create a different email for it. So when I have a free account and it tells me "you've used your limit" I just think "okay I'll just create another account" and it all goes to my Gmail.

Note: It only works with Gmail

As far as I know, it only works with Gmail, putting a plus after the name. But this is a neat little trick I learned that I use all over the place!

December snow.

It's snowed a few times this year I don't know why this time felt different.

Still dealing with items.

I had to create a claim on the USPS website for the package in New York. And I had hoped I could ship my laptop from home but the return instructions said it had to be sent from the UPS facility.

Missing label.

When I took the label back to the post office he told me I need to bring my own tape to put it on the package next time. I'm hoping there won't be a next time.

Paint run.

A few years ago scheduling MRI's would consume our whole day . Now we were happy that we could just do something to help other people in some way. Even if it was just driving to get the paint they needed. And we did make it back in time for for Merijoy's appointment.
