Some more vintage art and illustrations from my collection of children's books. This one is for the Hanna-Barbera cartoon Pixie and Dixie that used to play on the old Huckleberry Hound Show

This artwork is from the book "Pixie and Dixie and the Make-Believe Mouse" from 1961 illustrated by John Carey and Jan Neely.

If you would like to see more of the books that I've collected from resale shops over the years I also sell them in my eBay store to help support my podcast!

John Carey was actually an animator at Warner Brothers before he started drawing for Western Publishing in January 1950, often penciling, inking and lettering his stories at home.

Jan Neely also illustrated several books during this time period for Whitman Publishing including titles for Disney. But aside from the name showing up in a bunch of different titles I have I can't seem to find any other background on this artist.

I love how the books I find from this era at resale shops are so colorfully done and not just flat, quick drawings.
