Why I'm starting my own personal "Art History" course.

This is something that I've been meaning to do for a long time.

So, Me being a guy that's into comics and animation, it's not that far fetched that I was an avid toy collector. I bought all kinds of neat toys and stuff up until about 2005.

The reason I stopped doing it?

I told myself I collected them because they were valuable and I could sell them for more money to other collectors. But I never did.

And I couldn't justify buying these things anymore if I wasn't going to sell them. Plus, I was running out of places to put them. This picture is only about 1/4 of what I have.

There is way more scattered around our house and in storage.

Truthfully one of the real reasons I collected all this stuff? I thought they looked neat! I got them because I was inspired by them and thought I could study the style of it to improve my own drawings. Which I also didn't really ever do.

So recently I decided I was going to follow through on that thought. I'm gonna start picking items from my collection and learn more about who created them and see where it takes me.

Then when I've finished learning about each piece in my collection I'm going to sell it so I can start collecting more!

I like this idea because I love having a bank of useless knowledge at my disposal and it never hurts to have more in my opinion. That's the kind of thing that's helped me in so many different avenues of my life -- just teaching myself something or learning about something for no real reason.

Plus, I'm not going to college anytime soon. Heck, I just recently got my high school diploma in my 40s. I had dropped out of high school just a few months before the end of my senior year.

So this is the closest to an art history class that I'm going to come across. The bonus of this idea is I know I'm interested in the subject matter already!

So I'll be sharing the things that I learn about my collection as a go along right here on the website.
